Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 10 or equivalent qualification with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in driving and messenger services; OR

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in driving and messenger services.

• Valid Code 10 (EC1) Driver’s Licence.

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).

• Knowledge of South African transport regulations.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

• Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

Transport Services

• Safely operate government vehicles in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

• Transport patients, healthcare personnel, and authorised passengers to various destinations.

• Ensure safe transportation of medical supplies, equipment, and stock.

Document and Stock Delivery

• Deliver and collect official documents and correspondence.

• Transport stock and equipment between healthcare facilities and other designated locations.

• Ensure deliveries are completed accurately and within required timeframes.

Vehicle Management

• Conduct routine vehicle inspections.

• Monitor vehicle performance and report defects immediately.

• Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, and maintenance.

• Ensure vehicles remain clean, roadworthy, and compliant with safety standards.

Administrative Duties

• Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks.

• Complete transport request forms accurately.

• Safeguard fuel cards, vehicle keys, fuel receipts, and transport records.

• Ensure all transport-related documentation is updated and properly maintained.

Compliance

• Comply with National Transport Regulations of South Africa.

• Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

• Follow lawful instructions from the Transport Officer regarding transport operations.
