✅ ATS CV PRO TIPS (Get Shortlisted Faster)
1. Use Keywords From the Job Post
ATS systems scan CVs and Z83 supporting documents for exact matches such as:
-
“administrative support”
-
“data capturing”
-
“Microsoft Office”
-
“filing and record-keeping”
-
“clerical duties”
-
“asset register”
Make sure these terms appear naturally in your CV description, skills section, and duties list.
2. Keep Your CV in a Simple, ATS-Friendly Format
Avoid:
❌ Tables
❌ Graphics
❌ Images
❌ Columns
❌ Fancy fonts
Use:
✔ Standard fonts (Arial, Calibri, Times New Roman)
✔ Simple headings (Work Experience, Skills, Education)
✔ Bullet points instead of paragraphs
3. Align Your CV to the Job’s Language
Copy the exact wording used in the vacancy.
For example, instead of “I manage documents,” write:
✔ “Maintain proper filing and document control systems”
(using the SAME words the job advert uses)
4. Put Skills at the Top of Your CV
ATS reads CVs from top to bottom.
Place your most relevant skills right after your personal details.
5. Quantify Wherever Possible
Even without experience, you can quantify school, volunteer or admin tasks, e.g.:
-
“Captured over 150+ entries weekly for school/work-related projects.”
-
“Maintained organised filing systems for class/club documentation.”
6. Match Microsoft Office Skills One-by-One
List them exactly as:
-
Microsoft Word
-
Microsoft Excel
-
Microsoft Outlook
-
Microsoft PowerPoint
ATS treats “MS Office” as incomplete.
7. Use a Clean Professional Email
ATS reads email formats as part of your “professional profile”.
Use something like:
[email protected]
