The Department of Tourism is inviting applications for the role of Administrative Assistant (Ref No: DT 23/2025). Minimum Requirements:

  • A Grade 12 / Matric certificate.

  • At least 1 year of relevant administrative experience.

  • Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office applications.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Professional telephone etiquette and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • High level of reliability, tact, and discretion.

  • Basic knowledge of Public Service prescripts and policies.

Responsibilities:

The Administrative Assistant will play a critical role in supporting managers and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. Duties include:

  • Handling telephone calls and directing them to the appropriate role players.

  • Typing correspondence, reports, and other documents for managers and staff.

  • Operating office equipment including multifunctional printers, scanners, and photocopiers.

  • Coordinating travel arrangements and processing travel claims.

  • Managing meetings and events, including arranging venues, refreshments, and invitations.

  • Recording minutes during meetings and ensuring accuracy in official documentation.

  • Managing procurement of standard items such as stationery and refreshments.

  • Maintaining filing systems, document records, and leave registers.

  • Receiving and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
