📄 ATS CV Tips for This Job:

To help your application pass the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) used by many government employers, including eThekwini Municipality, here are key CV optimization tips:

  1. Use the job title in your CV heading:
Example: “Cashier | Financial Administration | Customer Service” – This helps the ATS match your application with the vacancy.

  2. Mirror keywords from the job posting:
Use exact terms like “cash handling,” “financial reconciliation,” “customer service,” “municipal payments,” and “Batho Pele principles” naturally throughout your CV.

  3. Include measurable results:
    Mention quantifiable achievements such as:

    • “Processed 100+ customer transactions daily with 100% accuracy.”

    • “Balanced daily cash receipts exceeding R20,000 with zero discrepancies.”

  4. Avoid tables and graphics:
ATS systems struggle to read formatted or graphic-heavy CVs. Use clean bullet points and standard fonts like Arial or Calibri.

  5. List technical tools clearly:
Include software names such as MS Excel, MS Word, POS systems, banking portals, or municipal finance software.

  6. Highlight customer and communication skills:
Showcase interpersonal strengths and ability to handle the public professionally—core to the Batho Pele framework.

  7. Keep your CV under 2 pages:
Government applications prefer concise CVs summarizing qualifications, experience, and references clearly.

  8. Include relevant certifications:
Add any training in financial administration, cash management, or customer relations to strengthen your profile.

  9. Use action verbs:
Start bullet points with verbs like “Processed,” “Reconciled,” “Handled,” “Supported,” “Ensured,” and “Maintained.”

  10. Customize your cover letter:
Reinforce your commitment to ethical service delivery and understanding of the municipality’s mission.
